Today Facebook publicized the new Interest Lists which allow users to subscribe to others’ or to create their own lists of Subscriptions, Pages or Friends based on categories they choose. This is intended to create a customized “newspaper” like experience on Facebook. Follow and list Pages about certain topics such as “sports” or “politics” and you can read the latest “news” about those topics. But for businesses who are marketing a product using social media, the benefits are even greater than simply gathering your information in one place.

One, it helps you look at a news feed that is made up of only the posts from that list. We have been able to do this with Friend Lists but that did not include Subscriptions or Pages. This means that...

This morning Facebook released a new layout for Business Pages called Timeline for Pages. This will give businesses who are marketing on Facebook a look and feel that is more in line with the Timeline for personal Profiles that was released a couple months ago. The Timeline for Pages has some exciting new features and there are some drawbacks as well.

All Pages for businesses will be automatically converted to Timeline on March 30th. You can start the process early if you like. This morning I made a video tour of my friend Brandy Solis’ Page. She made one up...

Wow this thing is so bad that Facebook won’t even let me post about it to warn you! I tried pasting a link to an article about it and it refused to let me post it, saying it was flagged as inappropriate! WOW. It’s that bad.

I am talking about BranchOut. The below article says it all:

“Are you unafraid to annoy your Facebook friends until you finally land that new job? There’s now an app for that. According to its description, ‘BranchOut‘ is supposed to provide you with “inside connections at hundreds of companies” by “expanding your career network through all of your friends on Facebook.” And how does it do that?...

So many people just don’t know where to even go or what to do to get started blogging with WordPress. I decided to share exactly step by step what you can do to be up and running with your own WordPress blog (or website).

Note this is different than a free WordPress.com blog – with WordPress.org (self-hosted) you completely own the content, structure, and everything within the blog, and you pay someone to host it for you. There are more customizations you can do, and you are allowed to conduct any kind of business on a self-hosted blog, because you are in total control. The WordPress.org ‘software’ is what is known as open-source – free and contributed to by many people – so there are many plugins, widgets, themes and other tools people develop and offer for free or a small fee so you can truly make a limitless website using WordPress. I highly recommend it!

    Now – HOW to:

The Marketing tab inside the back end editing area of your Facebook Page allows you a variety of ways of spreading the word about your Business Page. When you are starting a new Page it looks like this after you click the Edit Page button:

If you have an established Page it gives you a few more features and looks like this:

Sometimes you may have an occasion to schedule a meeting, one on one appointment or a group gathering with someone else.

Those of you in direct sales also deal with this when booking home parties or business opportunity appointments.

No matter what type of business you are in, rather than trying to catch all participants on the phone, or dealing with lots of emails back and forth, I’ve found it really helpful to use some online scheduling tools.

If you go to their websites you can investigate further. You’ll find that some are free, some are paid, some include database storage, some include reminders, and some even include buttons for your website or Facebook page. Some are designed for booking one on one appointments, and others are ideal for scheduling groups. Some even allow you to take payment from your client if you have something like a coaching business and charge for phone calls.

Using these tools has allowed me to control my calendar more...
