THANK YOU for this wonderful forum!
We are a chain of barbershops to open in Toronto in a few weeks. I'm looking for the best Point of Sale solution with a simple but efficient CRM element that will allow us to email our customers thank you notes, appointment reminders, etc... Our budget is limited and we need something really simple that our young stylists can learn in no time. Any Suggestions welcome sergio.medrano@scorecuts.com

Sergio,

How about this for a price for a simple CRM solution?: $0.00!

You can get it from SalesProcrm.com if you have one user/one shop.

Another open source program: www.sugar.com

Finally, you have www.freecrm.com which is—free.

By the way, at a recent seminar I held from SMEs, the best database and CRM system was operated by a barber with six chairs. He had a history of his customers going back 12 years!

Good luck,

Einstein famously said something along the lines that the best solutions are as simple as they need to be, but no simpler.

The best solution to your problem is almost certainly not a CRM system but excellent barbers—with the right combination of technical and social skills. That means people who can engage your customers while they are having their hair cut and make them feel like they had a great time.

The only system you really need is a simple calendar, a telephone and customers' permission to phone them to remind them about that haircut they need. And the great time they had last time they had their hair cut.

Don't make life more complicated than it need be.

Dear Mr. Hill,

I thought I'd quickly follow-up with you about ScoreCuts -Winning Haircuts for Men, in Toronto. I'm leaning towards using the basic package of POSitive software. It has a nice little CRM component to it, and it's geared towards retail environments like ours: http://www.gopositive.com

Kind regards from Toronto,
