How Free Is Free?: FreeCRM.com

How Free is Free?

I am always a bit skeptical when I hear the word "free," especially when it relates to technology. Sooner or later, those software gurus are going to get you. Once they "gotcha" hooked, you're but a toy on their keyboard to success.

Free is the word of the day at FreeCRM.com (CRM ASP, Inc.). Free CRM -- sprinkled with an "advertisement or two" (starting in 2004).

"Free" gets you five megs of storage. "Free" gives you the privilege to engage in self service. "Free" gives you the option to upgrade to no advertisements, 100 megs, and live support for about ten bucks a month per user.

Is anyone in our community game enough to give "Free" a try? If so, keep us posted, especially when the ads start rolling.

In the interim, gaze into your crystal ball and tell me how you think FreeCRM will do.

Just an additional thought considering the use of free SW.

Depending on the law and regulations of your country and business you may run into legal/regulatory (due diligence, business continuity, ..) trouble when you use free SW (freeware) and have no adequate license agreement with the supplier of that SW.

The impact of this depends on the nature and scale of the use of this free SW in your processing. It is wise to consult your legal counsel on this.

FREE CRM !! Now isn't that catchy... that should get everyone running to get a bit of it Smile .... especially in these times when companies are wailing about how
expensive CRM solutions are!

But you may never know....it may work! At the end of the day...I guess the revenue model will have the final word on this....ignoring the security issues that any business must have.

Its like using an extended 'FREE' Yahoo! with limited free storage , calendar, contacts, briefcase, etc.

I would definitely like to hear from members trying this out.

I've actually just begun testing it out. So far it looks like a decent tool. Probably one comment is that there's no notification on events. (or maybe I've yet to find it)

Seems like this has been added, notifications and rules for each section, check out "Alerts" on the left-nav.

Free CRM? FreeCRM.com seems to be quite good!
