I am looking to start a guest loyalty program for the independent hotel that I work for. We are looking to award our guests with airline miles from the airline of their choice. I have scoured the web and found no leads in the area. Where should I begin? Are there preferred companies I should contact, computer software, or do I have to contact each airline individually? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you contact each individual airline first to obtain
1. listed pricing infomation
2. process integration information which is the base for your use cases
3. technology integration information if any (for example, published web services)
I also think you should estimate the increased revenue as a result of this change. And you investment should be less than the
(increased revenue—miles purchasing cost)
Based on the process / technology information from airlines, you can build your
detailed use cases, which is your requirement. Based on your requriment,
you can start to estimate if any significant software investment is needed at all.
If software investment is needed, if custom made software is better or package
software is better.
This is just my suggestion on how you should proceed with this initiative. I am not aware of any sotware package is availabe. Hope it helps.

I suggest you take a look at the Inside Flyer magazine and website (at http://www.insideflyer.com/ ), the Web Flyer website (at http://www.webflyer.com/ ) and the Frequent Flier website (at http://frequentflier.com/index.html ).
They are the definitive websites to look at for the whole airline frequent flyer scene. They will provide you with articles, data and ideas to help you get what you need to start the process of thinking about your hotel loyalty programme.
Take a look at the Colloquy website (at www.colloquy.com ) too. It is a mine of information about loyalty programmes of all kinds.
