Do you find this as funny as I do?
On an all-too-frequent basis, I get emails like this:
Do you wish you could increase your online leads?
Getting a GUARANTEED 1ST PAGE GOOGLE RANKING is easier and more cost-effective than you might think.
We have helped a lot of businesses thrive in this market and we can help you! Simply hit reply and I’ll share with you the cost and the benefits See you at the top!
This came to my email via my website’s contact form. It’s pretty obvious my website is about customer service and it’s created for people interested in improving customer service.
My website is NOT here for people to spam me with their sales pitches. Using it that way guarantees I will NOT do business with you.
But the above message is more than spam. It’s also entertaining in it’s irony.
This person is trying to sell me their service which (supposedly) will give me top search ranking in Google. The value here is that top search rank in Google will bring me more new customer leads.
This is a good thing because it means I can avoid other, less effective ways of getting new customers, like spamming them with email.
Of course, this begs the question:
If this company is so good at getting good search engine rankings, why do they spam people (like me) to get new customer leads?
This spam marketer shot their own foot by making an offer that contradicted itself. It reeks of scam.
Serving our customers means offering something they are interested in. And it means being honest in how we deal with them every step of the way.
