It's another wonderful day in the neighborhood here at Radio CBM 98.6, sunny day, keepin' the clouds away, all Thelonious Monk all the time.

Because they love all the open source tech guys sooooo much, Microsoft has added SugarCRM Community Edition for free download on the Windows Web App Gallery.

The Microsoft Web Platform is a Microsoft framework for developing, deploying and hosting Web applications. "Purely their own idea, just popped into their head one day, didn't get it from anywhere else, totally new, unique thing," industry analyst Herbert Q. Finkelstein said. "Just like all the stuff Microsoft comes up with."

SugarCRM and Microsoft have partnered since 2006, when SugarCRM announced support for Internet Information Services as well as optimization for Active Directory and SQL Server.

On-demand customer service software vendor Parature has announced a social media integration with Twitter to let organizations monitor tweets for customer service.

The integration lets users look at the "happiness" of tweets, presumably by counting the exclamation points after LOL!!!!!, and "hone in on which ones to route within their organization for comment, support or general knowledge" and which ones to print out and post on the company bulletin board for a good laugh.

In politics, a Rasmussen Report poll pitting Hillary Clinton against Sarah Palin in a hypothetical presidential election found that Clinton bested Palin 51 to 39 percent. Clinton attributed her popularity to the fact that as a nearly-invisible Secretary of State out of the public eye, "I look a whole lot better."

Infor has announced the availability of Infor CRM i Edition, which company officials say improves the CRM capabilities for customers with Infor ERP on IBM System i platforms since it's linked with Infor's ERP products, and has "a single, integrated view of customer-related information such as credit limits, financial transactions, orders, quotes, shipments, and more."

It further simplifies things by providing CRM data to users through a single access point. End users can access it all via any Web browser, and to keep things really easy, according to analyst Herbert Q. Finkelstein, the user's manual is written in crayon.

In sports the top pick for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 draft, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, drafted tenth overall, has threatened to sit out the entire season and re-enter the draft in 2010 if he isn't paid more than the Oakland Raiders' top pick, wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, drafted seventh overall.

"Man, can you imagine anything in San Fran being cheaper than in Oakland? That just ain't right," Crabtree said.

49ers owner John York has called in ex-President Bill Clinton to negotiate and "bring Crabtree home to camp."

Data quality products vendor Pitney Bowes Business Insight and Silver Creek Systems, which sells automated data mastering, have announced the findings of a co-sponsored report on "The State of Data Quality Today."

Based on a survey conducted by The Information Difference, a UK analyst firm, the study found that companies "still find it a major challenge to maintain accurate data and quantify the true business cost of poor data quality."

One-third of respondents rate their data quality as poor at best and only four percent rate it as excellent. Meanwhile, 63 percent of respondents said their organization has made no attempt to calculate the cost to the business of errors in data arising from poor data quality.

The top two barriers to progress with data quality initiatives are cited as "Management does not see this as an imperative" and "It's very difficult to present a business case." "Blithering idiots" was a close third. However, 42 percent do not know what the quality of their data is since they do not measure it.

When Radio CBM contacted one of the business surveyed to ask a follow-up question we received approval for a $35,000 loan.

That's the show for today, we're off to good Dr. Johnnie W. Black's for the Russian method of making sure we don't catch swine flu.
